The Home Screen is designed to show your unit’s branding and to give your customers options for varying payment methods by changing the number of buttons and labeling them with your custom text.
Customers proceed to a screen to enter their name along with the ability to restrict the menu to gluten friendly items.
You have the option of offering various categories of foods. There may even be a hidden Easter egg waiting if you tap on the logo in the upper left!
Food Items show a name and description (if applicable) along with a unit price. If you offer a meal plan, items can be sold as an “entree,” a “side,” or whatever label fits your operation.
Selecting an item brings up a customization screen where customers can add toppings to their item. Certain “extras” can include up-charges if necessary.
Food item titles can dynamically scale the height of the block when the name needs to go on to two lines. Also, you can designate certain toppings to be “preselected” when a customer chooses an item.
Other screens don’t need any customization, so when the customer selects an item, The Point of Order App immediately places the item in the cart.
Cart review (or in this case “bag”) allows customers to alter toppings, adjust quantities, or remove items altogether. Item quantities are also increased if a customer selects the same item multiple times before arriving at the Cart Screen.
The final screen confirms that the order has been placed. The kitchen will receive a print out through a receipt printer describing the order to prepare along with the customer’s name to be called and the price (either meal plan value or actual dollar amount) that the cashier will need to charge. This step also allows for the app to log the order for analytics reviews. In this example, Elvis shakes his hips for us.
The Point of Order App honors a set of hours of operation. When the unit is closed, a “Closed” screen appears preventing customers from placing new orders. The unit automatically reopens at the appropriate time on the appropriate day. And multiple open/closed times can be set for a given day as well.
